Principal's Message |
Welcome to the New Jerusalem Elementary School web site. I hope you will find it useful and informative. This is just one way for the faculty and staff to provide you with needed communications; hopefully, making you and your child's busy life a little more uncomplicated.
There are many exciting things happening at New Jerusalem. We have a new 4th grade teacher who brings a lot of experience and enthusiasm to our staff. Our teachers are participating in the Great Valley Writing Project; working hard to take our students to new levels of proficiency in writing and language arts. We also continue working with Revolution Foods to bring great tasting and healthy food options to our student body at breakfast and lunch. The biggest changes taking place are with new construction on our district campuses. We are working on a new gymnasium, administration building and learning resource center, as well as updating the New J. quad and other cosmetic improvement that will take place over the next year.
The New Jerusalem School District is a great place to work; but more importantly, it’s a great place for students to go to a safe school, be challenged academically and just be kids. Faculty and staff clearly care about the children in our district and place the mastery of educational standards at the forefront of the school’s overall plan. Coupled with that, there is an emphasis on fostering kindness, honesty and the development of well-rounded children that will become good, contributing citizens.
While I certainly want us all to be cognizant of the importance in improving our test scores and the readiness of our students for high school, I also want school to be a place of joy and discovery. It is an important balance that all of us—parents, teachers, students and staff must work to achieve—focusing on the bottom line (academic achievement), but also allowing our student to be kids; knowing they’re safe, cared for, and valued as the future citizens of our community.
Thanks to you for giving me the opportunity to be part of New Jerusalem Elementary School District.
