Jill Perez
My name is Jill Perez. After finishing my BA degree in Liberal Studies from Stanislaus State University in 1997 and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Chapman University, I was hired as a first grade teacher at New Jerusalem School and have truly enjoyed my career choice.
New Jerusalem School was not new to me however. I started as a mother in 1988 when my son started kindergarten. Five years later I was hired as a part-time kindergarten aide while I spent the next 4 years finishing my degree. This school holds a special place in my heart as both a teacher and a parent. I feel fortunate that my own children attended a school where each child is treated as a special individual and not just a number. It is my privilege to carry on that tradition in my own classroom.
I have been married for 28 years and my 3 children are all grown up now. They have each moved to southern California to pursue different careers and college but luckily they come to visit often. I am not a grandmother yet but will welcome a grandchild when it happens.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, swimming, and traveling. I spend many summer hours reading and relaxing in the pool. My husband and I enjoy traveling and recently went on an Alaskan cruise. We are planning a trip to Washington, DC next summer.
