Denise Huffstutler
Teaching and learning are two of my passions in life. I am in my fourth year as a middle school teacher and my second year teaching at New Jerusalem. I am excited to be back here working for a great district full of devoted parents! Previously, I taught for three years at a charter school, as well as spent nearly seven years as para-professional. I have earned my Master’s degree in Educational Technology and aspire to become a Board Certified teacher. I enjoy attending conferences and workshops to gain more knowledge and experience that I can bring back to my students and teaching.
My free time is devoted to bettering myself and being with my family. I am an avid runner and look forward to completing my first marathon in August 2009. I love to travel and run in the different cities I explore. I enjoy exercise and healthy living. In addition to maintaining a healthy physical life, my family and I are also vegetarians! I read for pleasure and love to share my enjoyment from reading with my students. I am the proud mother of four wonderful children, two of whom attend New Jerusalem. We spend our time together reading, running, and participating in sports. We also enjoy cooking together and being with our friends.
I believe that all students can and want to be successful. I work towards giving them the skills necessary to become lifelong learners and problem solvers. This includes modifying instruction based upon each of my student’s unique strengths and weaknesses. I also spend a lot of time training students to be responsible citizens in and out of the classroom. I look forward to the opportunity to teach your child and become a partner with you in his or her education.
